About Our Services

General Questions

What will happen at my first visit?

Your first visit is an Initial Evaluation, which is a comprehensive, individualized assessment. Your Physical Therapist or Occupational Therapist will a listen to your concerns about your specific condition. Your therapist will thoroughly examine you for problems with flexibility, strength, joint mobility, and movement. Their focus is on how you uniquely use your body at work, home, and play. This helps develop your personalized Plan of Care.

What is in a Therapy Plan of Care?

Based on your Initial Evaluation, your therapist will develop a Plan of Care designed for your specific problems and goals. This plan may include:

  • Treatment to decrease pain and restore mobility
  • Manual therapy techniques to improve mobility of joints and soft tissues
  • Specific strengthening and/or flexibility exercise
  • Education about care of your body and training on a Home Exercise Program
  • Modalities, such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, or ice
How many visits will I need?

Typically, patients have 2 or 3 visits per week for a duration of 6 to 12 weeks. Your total visits depends on many factors, including your reasons for coming to therapy and your commitment to it.  During each of your follow up visits, your therapist will progress you through your Plan of Care by increasing the intensity of therapeutic exercise as you regain strength, flexibility, and mobility. Your therapist will provide recurring Progress Evaluations to measure your progress toward goals.

Do you accept my insurance?

We participate with Medicare, Virginia Medicaid, and many private insurances and Medicare or Medicaid replacement plans. We also accept Worker’s Compensation and accept litigation/liability patients.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy treats a variety of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions, including joint replacements, fractures, breaks, tears, sprains, strains, arthritis, back pain, neck pain, joint pain, general deconditioning, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Multiple Sclerosis, muscle weakness, hemiplegia, paraplegia, and more. A physician referral is not required to begin PT services unless required by your insurance.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses increasing function in shoulder, elbow, arm, wrist, or hand conditions, such as fractures, breaks, sprains, strains, carpal tunnel, paralysis, and arthritis. A physician referral is required to begin OT services.

Aquatic Therapy

Our clinic has an in-ground, heated aquatic therapy pool. Aquatic therapy utilizes water to achieve physical therapy and/or occupational therapy goals.  Aquatic therapy provides a zero-gravity environment for patients who have difficulty with weight bearing activities due to arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, or other conditions that make land-based therapy intolerable.  Aquatic therapy can also assist with the healing process and improve circulation. Our goal is to transition each patient from aquatic therapy to land therapy.

Pediatric Care

Our sister company, Center for Pediatric Therapies, offers pediatric rehabilitation Services. Please contact their office for more information.
